They were made by taking a mold of an antique Chinese chops. These chops are stamp used as a form of signature, so each chops is unique to begin with. Different color and sculpting variations add to the uniqueness of each pendant.

ELUSIVE
Look at these original polymer clay face pendants I found at Shimmerwyck.etsy.com.
Somehow they remind me the elusive portraits by Amedeo Modigliani – a fine mixture of primitive, decorative, and graceful.

CLEVER
Mary Katherine (McKay) Miller just recently opened a new shop on Etsy, where she offers quite unusual and very original items – polymer clay pendants made with pictures of her hand-sculpted fairies. I hope this will prove to be a clever marketing move for her!
You can see McKay's original fairies at her web site, www.faebymckay.websiteanimal.com.

BACKING
In this colorful pendants by Pyglet Whispers, polymer clay works as a backing for the prints of her original pen and ink drawings. Without this wonderful material, making these pendants would have been much more difficult.

INSPIRED
These cute little polymer clay dragon pendants by twentypoundtabby.etsy.com were inspired by the works of Christi Friesen.
Christi's work and sculpting books are so popular that many polymer clay artists are influenced by her ideas.

LAYERED
Today I want to show you a few polymer clay pendants with layered designs by Christina Uliczny (rivervalleydesign.etsy.com). She uses metal leaf and translucent clay to create this amazing effect of floating geometrical patterns.
There are more works by Christina in her flickr photo album.

ASIAN
I love these polymer clay pendants with an Asian feel from MaggieDayStudio.etsy.com. In addition to bold colors and lovely abstract designs, they all have a great texture, and the combination of shiny and matte parts make them even more interesting.

MINUTE
Sometimes it is quite difficult to judge the size of a work of art by its picture. For me, it was the case with Jill Kollmann's works. I just saw them in person this weekend, and was astonished by the tiny size of the decorative details on her pendants. Jill combines polymer clay with wire and beads. You may find a few examples of her works in her Etsy shop, jkollmann.etsy.com.

QUIRKY
I am re-writing this post after receiving an e-mail from Alison, the UK jewelry artist, originally featured here.
Alison wrote to let me know that the swirly beads and pendants that she used to make the necklaces below were actually made by Melissa Parrett, who was featured in my blog earlier this year.
You can see these and other beautiful jewelry by Alison in her shop, MyHeartsMyFlowers.etsy.com.

DOTTED
Here are a few simple, but impressive designs by Jen Marsh (LuckyYouStudio.etsy.com). All of these pendants and earrings are made with yet another polymer clay variation of an antique mokume gane technique. It seems that the possibilities of even this technique alone are endless, not to mention all the other ways of working with polymer clay!

DOUBLE
PurpleCactusStudios.etsy.com is the result of collaboration between two artists, Amber Edison and Laurence Abensour. Here are a few of my favorite designs from their shop: an original twist on a traditional swirly design.

ARCHITECTURAL
These large polymer clay pendants from thingsviapost.etsy.com are actually considered as a scale down by the artist who creates them, since her background is in large scale sculpture.
However you refer to their size, I think these pendants are very beautiful and original.

SOPHISTICATED
I felt very lucky when I spotted Susan Waddington's shop yesterday (polydogz.etsy.com). I am a long-time fan of Susan's work.
All she has in her Etsy shop right now is one necklace for sale and three in Sold category, but you can spend hours admiring just those few pieces. For more, visit her web site polydogz.com.

PAINTED
Valerie (ValeriesStuff.etsy.com) creates her wearable art pendants by painting with alcohol inks on polymer clay bases. The resulting creations look like miniature watercolors, don't they?

SCENIC
I really like the concept of wearable art, and Leah McFall's pendants and earrings fall into this wonderful category. She creates tiny ocean scenes out of polymer clay and adorns them with real sea shells.

FRAMED
Paying tribute to the people from places I just visited, I want to feature the works of a mother and daughter team from Maine.
There are mane interesting polymer clay creations in their Etsy shop, but my favorites are the pins and pendants with picture transfers framed with textured clay. Lovely combination of two great techniques!
