THOROUGH

This must be the first time when the description of polymer clay works impressed me even more than the works themselves.

Kathy Shield Dümmer makes beautiful jewelry and buttons, but it is the thoroughness of her button descriptions that left me in awe. Check them out at brouhahadesigns.etsy.com.

INNOVATIVE

Susan O'Neill (11BOLDstreet.etsy.com) is experimenting with liquid polymer clay. To make these innovative bracelets, she layered gauze (soaked in liquid polymer clay) onto a backing made out of regular polymer clay. Multiple baking with additional liquid clay and mica powders resulted in these beauties.

TEENY

I think I figured out the recipe to my heart (at least for polymer clay artists): give me something tiny, curly, well-sculpted, and dragon-related - and I will fell in love with your creation.

Actually, it is not that simple, but these Little Darlins by Darlene Hardenbrook (freeheart1.etsy.com) sure fit this description!

HONORABLE

While all works by MossyCreekDesigns are beautiful, the most recent one of them commands the highest recognition. All proceeds from her Dove of Hope Tutorial will go towards buying the life saving medication needed for her good friend's aunt, who was just diagnosed with breast cancer.

You can see more works by this artist in her album at myspace.com.

CONTEMPORARY

Lupe Meter readily admits that she was inspired by the new
Ronna Weltman's book, Ancient Modern, when she created these bold contemporary designs, yet I can clearly hear Lupe's own designer voice in these pieces.

Find this and other polymer clay jewelry by Lupe in her Etsy shop and in her photo album. Her close-up pictures of the necklaces are particularly enjoyable.

DARK

I've first seen this polymer clay artist's work awhile ago, but decided to wait until Halloween to write about him. I am glad I waited! His new, Halloween-inspired works, are simply fantastic. Not your cute little pumpkins, these Jack-o-Lanterns are dark, mysterious, and really scary. Find them at Meatspider.etsy.com. There are more pictures of work by this artist on his web site, Meatspider.com.

Added on 10/10/09: I received an e-mail from Meatspider with a link to his new shop at cafepress.com, where you can find T-shirts and other suff with his polymer clay designs. It's really cool!
